We got the great room Christmas tree up, and that's an accomplishment to do in one day. But sure enough, I got it done, all while Nana was looking on, admiring the tree as it came together. This is a pretty substantial project, and it took me all day pretty much to do this one. But in the end, it came out very nice, and everyone was pleased. We watched a few Christmas movies tonight under the soft glow of the tree - actually, I was still decorating it while the others were watching "The Nutcracker" movie, and even "The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever."
Madison had her leadership class tonight, and she was out there on the floor practicing with the sword and with "spin kicks that twisted into tornado kicks." It's a rather impressive maneuver when it gets done right. There were a lot of flying kicks tonight!
Mommy had her world-famous chili tonight for all of us. I can't emphasize how great this chili is. The staff looks forward to this, and several of them go back for as many as three servings of it when we serve it at the Pumpkin Carving Party. We still had some leftover, so we heated that up, and it was just right on a cold and blustery day. Yes, it was cold this morning - thirty-eight in the morning. That's a sudden shift for us here in North Georgia, and we all felt the chill. But the chili helps with the chili!
We read tonight from "Choices of One" again, and we prayed again. Tomorrow is Election Day, so Madison has off of school. And depending on the outcome, there may be more riots again. Not that this is why she has off of school. I think they're using the school as a polling place, perhaps. Whatever the reason, tomorrow we sleep in. We've already voted, as have many in the country. This election season has certainly been a tough one on the country. That's why it's been good to focus today on something a bit less stressful. We've got enough of that in the house as it is right now, and one of the best things you can do for all that is put up a Christmas tree.
