Daddy got home late tonight from a big outdoor church service down at Lake Lanier Islands. We got to see a little bit of the lights, but didn't go into the park much further. Basically, we were there for the night service, which was mostly a Christmas music concert for our congregation - it was nice. The weather was a bit gloomy throughout the day, but things were dry in time for the concert - just really, really foggy. Incredible fog on the way home. That last few miles, my vision was pretty limited as I drove through a wall of thick fog. To quote Yukon Cornelius, it was thicker than peanut butter!
So Madison looks like a hockey player now - three substantial gaps in her teeth, and another on the way. And thus far, each visit from the Tooth Fairy has been memorable.
Tonight Madison's coughing has been going down in frequency. She's getting better. Daddy went home to visit for a bit this afternoon, where we read some Christmas books and had a bit of food together. We didn't have much time for anything else, as Daddy had to get down to Lake Lanier Islands a little earlier. But Madison did her homework as usual - she's working on conjunctions now. The very thought of conjunctions gets Mommy and Daddy singing, "Conjunction Junction, what's your function?"
In any event, it was a full day for each of us. And a little on the warm side! We're in a warming trend now, with near-spring temperatures out there. It's wet, but amazingly warm outside. Speaking of which, here's our devotional entry for the day:
DECEMBER 4 - "The Year Without a Santa Claus"
Warmest holiday greetings! Have you heard of Mr. Heat Miser? In “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” he was known as Mr. Green Christmas, Mr. Sun, Mr. Heat Blister – Mr. Hundred and One! They called him Heat Miser – whatever he’d touch would start to melt in his clutch. He’s too much!
Did you know once there almost was a year without a Santa Claus? He may be called a hot head, but Mr. Heat Miser did help save Christmas that year. Here’s how: the people of Southtown, USA wanted snow one year for Christmas. That’s Heat Miser’s territory there, where it stays hot year round. He doesn’t like it cold down there at all.
Some like it hot, but he likes it even hotter than that. He’d like it to be so hot that cows give evaporated milk!
Anyway, that year Santa needed it cold in Southtown for Christmas. It was a really hard thing for Mister Heat Miser to do, because he didn’t want his brother Snow Miser stepping into his territory. He thinks he’s so cool!
But Heat Miser was generous. It snowed in Southtown, and Christmas was saved once again. You see, God has given you your gifts and talents to help others, not just help yourself. This Christmas, share your gifts, your talents, and your time. Like the Heat Miser, you’ll be able to show some serious warmth.
