Going down the stairs, Daddy will say to Madison, "Be careful."
She replies, "I'm not careful. I China."
*************************************************
Madison has been wanting to watch "Mulan 2" over and over again recently. She'll point at herself and say, "I China," which is neat to see. We integrate things into her life to remind her (and us) of her heritage. Some things are unintended, even. For example, on our set at church, we have a reproduction of Grauman's Chinese Theater.
Madison saw this and immediately said, "China!" She recognizes the architectural styles of China, and points them out to us when she sees them. It never occurred to Daddy that he was making a Chinese set, but he was inwardly pleased that it got this sort of reaction from Madison.
She knows Chinese music for what it is, recognizes buildings for what they are - and knows people who are Chinese. Of course, Mulan is one of those people, which explains why Madison has watched "Mulan 2" about three times lately. She'll be really paying attention to the television screen while it is on, too.
She sees the Great Wall, or the Forbidden Palace, and she'll tell us "China!" It all brings back memories, too. It was nearly two and a half years ago already...
