Mr. Peanut

As we continued moving things to our new house today, Madison noticed Mr. Peanut. Long ago, Daddy had a Mr. Peanut stuffed doll, and recently this one was found at Goodwill as somewhat of a replacement.

I don't remember too much from my younger years, but for some strange reason I had an odd fascination with Mr. Peanut. Was it the top hat and monocle? More than likely it was the association with the Atlantic City Boardwalk, where Mr. Peanut lives. Or rather, it is there that Daddy remembers meeting Mr. Peanut each time we traveled to Atlantic City. We never really went there to gamble, but rather to see the beach and the atmosphere around. I don't remember much of Atlantic City, but I do remember salt water taffy, and Mr. Peanut.

Years, later, here he is beside my daughter, both smiling so brightly. She's been fascinated with Mr. Peanut all day today, carrying him around just like she carries around her Alice doll. Funny the way things work, isn't it?

Today's new service was a big hit, of course. Other news from the day is that Christmas play auditions took place. Daddy got the lead role last time, but is desperately hoping he doesn't get a lead role this time. Too much to do! Nevertheless, I will do whatever I'm asked. Speaking of which, Mommy has been asked to help with the costumes again. We'll see how much this entails, but readers may remember last March and April, when things were pretty chaotic. Hopefully we'll have a little bit of normalcy this time around.

Meanwhile, Daddy has to get back to the car and load it up for another trip to the new house. Got to keep moving all this stuff!
