Christmas is Coming

Santa Buc-ee had another gift for Maddie, and it's not a bad idea after the rough treatment of those hands yesterday.  Maddie's fists are officially registered weapons at this point, but striking the board in a slightly off way can result in some banging and bruising.  That's why today's gift was somewhat appropriate:  a box of Buc-ee's band-aids.  That beaver's face is on just about everything you can find there in the store.  I mean, Buc-ee's band-aids?  Yes, there's that too.  And it's now it's under the tree!

We had a somewhat quieter day today, certainly when compared to yesterday.  Maddie enjoyed school, I think, but she enjoyed heading over to Nate's a bit more afterwards.  Nothing to say too much there, so I'm assuming all is well!

I got a few items from my online shopping for Mom.  Also, we were working on the January booklet, the one with the insect theme.  Or rather, the bug theme.  You can see one of the ideas I had here below, using some AI generated ladybugs:

And this one here with a praying mantis:

Steadily plugging along.  I'm still trying to figure out what to do for the skit this weekend, but we'll get there.  Lots going on until then though:  we have an office party Thursday, and there's a huge night at Edge Martial Arts on Friday, and then Saturday maybe there's Scuba Claus!

Today I was putting a lot of those Christmas cards in the mail.  Only a few to go.  Mom's been filling out a lot of them, putting addresses on and all, and I've been running them to the post office.  Christmas is getting closer and closer, and we're getting all the boxes checked off.  I still have some shopping to do, but we've been doing a lot of wrapping and getting things ready.  We'll be hosting the family here for the big day, so we'll probably need to cater again, and that's okay - it worked out for Thanksgiving.  We'll use the living room to exchange gifts, and that will be sweet.

Coming home to our neighborhood is so nice at night.  The lights are up on the houses, and it's a magical thing driving through while listening to Christmas music.  We've been going through all the different music CDs since November 1st, because it's never too early to listen to Christmas music.  Speaking of which, we're listening to the AI Christmas music over and over again as we work and do other things, getting ready for judging and scoring all these submitted tracks.  There's some great stuff in there, forty entries this year.  Whoa.  Tomorrow we judge, and we pick a winner and other categories.  It'll be a lot of fun!

We watched "Scrooge" tonight, the old musical with so many memorable songs in it.  And after that, it was pretty much reading "Hogfather," prayers, and getting tucked in for a good night's rest.  Time for some sleep!
