October Book

Maddie had a good day today starting with chapel, where she heard from Pastor Hamilton in somewhat of a "Things I Would Tell My Younger Self" sort of message.  They had a great chapel, and afterwards Maddie went off to get some coffee with Camille, always a treat for Maddie, plus a little "girl time."  I was off in Alpharetta getting the car looked at for regular maintenance and a continuing issue with the air conditioning.  Might be a faulty part under warranty, but we'll see - in the meantime, I have a replacement car in the garage which is pretty nice.

We were at work a good bit today, and we did manage to finish up October's booklet, and that's good.  We thought it would be fun - because some of us are such Miyazaki fans - to do some of the artwork inside the book in that style.  It's just enough most of the time that it doesn't scream out "anime" or anything like that, but simultaneously serves our purpose and makes it fun for us.  Like this image here, of this girl reading a Bible.  We'll put the scripture there from Psalm 119:105 in there.

We also got the booklet done for November, so we're cruising with that.  That book has a lot of groovy food in it, which you'll see soon enough.  I finished up what's probably the third version of this weekend's skit after so many alterations due to cast member conflicts and so on - sometimes these things drag on, but the skit should be fun, hopefully.

Mom and I are still doing our supplemental routine, and that's been a lot of detox and things draining out of the system.  We've been encouraging each other through it all.  I haven't really felt too many side effects outside of super mild stomach cramps, but Mom has been experiencing some things that make her visit the bathroom a bit more often.  We're staying on it, moving forward with a big plan here.

The sea monkeys are doing great, by the way.  They're still swirling around in there, years after I put those eggs in the tank.  I'm still using the same food packet too, that one packet from over two years ago.  It's a daily thing, getting up, giving them some oxygen with the plunger, taking a peek at things.  Lots of little ones flitting about towards the surface.  A next generation may be coming up soon.  Sea monkeys are fun.  The martian landscape is a little green now, with lots of algae and so forth, but these little ones are enjoying the tank, and I'm enjoying their company!

Tonight's movie was "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken."  Attaboy, Luther!  We also managed to squeeze in some videos online from Dollywood, checking out the Harvest Festival up there, and the foods.  Pumpkin chili?  Yes, I'll try that!  There's a new plush cinnamon roll up there with a cute face, a new Candy Corn Country area, and a few other additions.  I'm obsessed with this massive apple pie, and hopefully we can get a time slot for Mom to try some glass blowing.  I might - might - even try something at the blacksmith.  Anyway, there's some stuff to look forward to in the future - we're heading to Pigeon Forge for just a couple days in October, and it should be nice.

Closing out the night, we read for a bit, and then we said our prayers.  A lot of verbal fighting going on out there, a lot of negativity.  I'd hate to think of what it would take to unify this country.  Let's just get some sleep.
