Maddie was somewhat bittersweet too. We picked her up this afternoon, and she was a little teary-eyed, but she wasn't alone. Other students had tears in their eyes. She'll miss the time with some of her friends, but won't miss all the work. On the whole, she's glad to be gone and ready to move on to the next thing. But it's okay to spend the next few weeks being somewhat sentimental about the time spent together with classmates and favorite teachers.
It wasn't an eventful day. As far as last days of school go, that's normal. Most of the big tests are over with, all but one final test to take this upcoming Tuesday. High School is just about over with. I remember in 2021 walking in that building for the first time. I think next Tuesday will be perhaps our last time visiting the school, not that we were there that much at all. Compared to elementary School, we were pretty much shut out. I remember working on the yearbook for elementary school, there all the time, even helping out with classes one time when I brought the old rock collection to talk about geology.
I found this old post talking about them building the school to be ready just in time for Maddie to start there. Remarkable timing! The high school was completed just in time for Maddie to walk in those doors as a freshman. Her class will be the first one to have gone through all four years of school there at the building, so it is in fact a special class of 2025.
All that said, today was a special day, but rather quiet otherwise. The weather was stormy with a lot of rain. Tonight we had taekwondo of course, for the extra length class - Team Edge practice is tacked on at the end as well. And afterwards, we started a condensed version of "Apefest," where we're just watching the last four movies (rather than all ten). We were wanting to watch "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" again, but wanted to backtrack a few movies to catch up. Anyway, tonight we made time for that before bedtime, and then... back to the Discworld for some reading, and after that, prayers. Time to get some sleep. Big event day today. Still sinking in.
