Star Wars Day 25

It was Star Wars Day today, and even though we're starting our Kingdom Quest series at KidPak, I made our skit today a Star Wars one, with a good bit of lightsaber training involved.  You can see the cast above - I had Megan's character doing a selfie during the skit each service, and here it is from the first service.

One great thing was seeing Maddie back up there on stage for a cameo.  I wanted to see someone doing a more advanced lightsaber routine, so we cued up some intense Star Wars music, changed the lighting and she had fun doing a small routine.

It was a good morning, but a long day afterwards - I was taxi service for Maddie as she went to Nate's for fifteen minutes, and then the grocery story for a bit to pick up a card and graduation gift for Lilia, and then down to Lilia's graduation party, and then Mom and I went to eat a decent meal at the aging Buffalo's Cafe there in Oakwood, and then I took Mom home and then drove back down to Chestnut Mountain to go pick up Maddie and then back to Nate's again for another twenty minutes.  I was able to stop at the graduation party and say hello, but I was so tired by that point.

Maddie had a fun day, of course.  She saw Nate a few times, and then she was with her friends a good bit at the graduation party.  She was exploring a creek area at Lilia's house, and just hanging out.

We got home and watched the episodes of "Tales of the Underworld." It's a series that takes place within the Star Wars universe, and it was pretty awesome to see Asajj Ventress back.  She is pretty much my favorite character of the Clone Wars and to see her back is great.  It's just great to see the old-school Star Wars animation again, as we watched all of that from the very beginning.

Speaking of Star Wars Day, I've been reading, "Splinter in the Mind's Eye," for the first time.  It's the very first expanded universe material, a book that came out before "The Empire Strikes Back" so it's so early that a huge amount of the Star Wars universe hasn't been developed yet, including the fact that Luke and Leia are brother and sister.  I always remember the cover of this book from when I was young, and always wondered what this book was like.  When a friend from church was getting rid of a bunch of old paperbacks, he knew I would be into this older material.  I got five of these Star Wars books from the 1970's, and here I am starting with the first one to see what it's actually like!

Anyway, it was a good day today.  We finished the day with "War for the Planet of the Apes," which is another great movie in our "Ape-fest," and catches us up well enough so we can enjoy this latest "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" one more time later on this week.

We did read tonight from "Carpe Jugulum," and we said our prayers after that.  But boy, we were all tired.  We got to bed early tonight, and slept well.
