Junior!

So we now have a Junior in the house!  Maddie started her eleventh grade year today, and no, she wasn't entirely looking forward to it.  That sort of thing is for those crazy kids, right?  Anyway, she's a junior, which every time I hear that word I think of this guy here.

Junior!  Maddie had a good day, which didn't include much because no first day of school ever really does much more than introduce everyone to the teacher and each other.  But she seems pretty content with this year's schedule, and that's good.

*** SEA MONKEY UPDATE ***

I estimate we have six residents in the tank, six very healthy sea monkeys that we're pretty faithful to feed once a week, and give oxygen to the tank each morning.  Each day we pick up the tank to say good morning or evening to our little guys and gals.  They look so cute in there on that Martian landscape.   Here's a few photos I've taken of our pets floating about near the space ship and astronaut there on Mars.

Uncle George flew in for a quick visit today, arriving some time mid-afternoon.  He and Mom went over to see Nana for a bit, while Maddie got home after school and I was at work all day working on four or five different projects all at once.  It's been a tad bit stressful, on top of everything else.

So we went out to eat tonight, going over to Texas Roadhouse to get a really good meal.  We timed it right, walking right in there to the table.  I got some barbecue chicken, and Mom got her six ounce steak like always, and Maddie got her chicken strips with the hot sauce.  It was just a nice time together at a place we hadn't been to in a while.

Afterwards, we got home and watched a movie together, "Napoleon Dynamite," just because we kept on quoting it all day for some reason.  I adore this movie, as do all of us I guess.  Not only do we have nearly all the lines memorized, but we also just love watching the story of underdogs coming out on top like that.  It's a wonderful movie.

Right after that, it was pretty much time for bed.  School night, right?  We read from "Leia" and we said our prayers, and yeah, the plush entourage was still with us.  We got some sleep after that - it was easy to fall asleep!
