Last Day Of School Before Break

Maddie had her last day of school of 2022 today, and as you can see above, it was also Taco Tuesday!  She had a few midterms today, which seems crazy to have this close to Christmas, but there you go.  Fortunately, there was time for other things at school, like making candy cane reindeer too!

Nana had a long meeting with a special guest named Dana, whose job it is to transition folks into senior communities.  Nana was wanting to get out and anxious for Dana to come, but of course leading up to it as we got closer to this date, she's unhappy, untrusting and just miserable.  But the meeting seemed to go well once Dana got here, and soon there'll be an actual visit to a few of these places - maybe on Thursday.  Until then though, Nana is filled with anxieties, and basically assuming the worst.  The truth is that it's ultimately her choice to go or not or if she's going to approve of where she's going - I keep telling her that she's in charge.  But her default state is misery and anxiety.  At this point, we believe that by going somewhere else she'll be more distracted, wanting to talk with others and hopefully happier.  But right here, she's not.  And it's been driving us downward of course.  Mom and I haven't had a date in two and a half years, and if Nana actually does go on this tour on Thursday, it'll be the first time in two and a half years that Maddie, Mom and I have been alone.  We might not know what to do with ourselves!

Anyway, today I was doing some shopping with Maddie, driving here and there.  We had hot chocolate again tonight, because Mom makes it really, really, really good.  We're talking sprinkles and whipped cream and big mugs.  We've had a fire in the fireplace, and there's word of a really big freeze coming soon.  Tonight we had a Grinch-fest, because I wanted to watch the original Grinch cartoon, and then after that we checked out the recent animated Grinch movie, which is pretty good.  I hope they make another Dr. Seuss movie with that look, because all three thus far have been pretty good ("Horton Hears a Who" and "The Lorax" were well done!).

We read from "Mort" tonight, and then we said our prayers.  Only a few more sleeps 'til Christmas!
