Mjölnir vs. Elf

This morning we found out that Jingle Bell was not worthy, and not really going anywhere.  Mjölnir was right there, resting right on top of him this morning.  Madison got her routine down quickly this morning:  advent calendars, elf, posing for pictures, prayers - and out the door.  The reason for the quick exit was some help with Live to Give, the club that she's been involved in recently.  She was hanging up posters advertising for the club itself, helping out with another new friend as they set things up.

I was at work for a while, and we're doing quite a bit towards Christmas and beyond.  We've got the booklets figured out for January and February, and were actually working towards small groups tomorrow night a little bit.  They'll be doing some Christmas trivia, and talking about the Wise Men.  It's been a great small group series about the Nativity set pieces, and who they represent.

We had taekwondo tonight, and it is chilly outside, but Madison was working hard.  Her next testing is coming up next week, and she's very focused.  She got a few tips from the instructor, but she's doing well. She sparred with a few others, and did pretty well.  She's helping others out too, being a teacher herself.

Earlier today she was helping a fellow student with some work in science.  It was related to the half-life of certain elements, and it was fun listening to her explain to me how she was explaining the whole concept of a half-life.  She's doing well in school overall, and she seems to be enjoying it.

Tonight we were watching "A Mom for Christmas," part of our Christmas movie marathon that we're moving through pretty fast!  Nana and Mom were on the couch, watching together as Madison was doing a bit of homework and studies for tests.  She's doing a research paper on making movies, and it's a work in progress.

"Purrs like a cat.  Drives like a dream."

I love Wilkins the chauffeur.  He's a mannequin that comes to life, and knows all there is to know about the car he's been placed in.  That is, except about the gas tank.  Also, maybe how to carefully drive out of a department store.  The movie is from 1990, but it's so dated looking that it could be from seven or eight years prior to that.  The soundtrack is so 80's, as are many camera angles and set designs.  It's like a trip back in time.  Obviously the movie Mannequin was an inspiration for this one, as a little girl wants a mom for Christmas Day.  A mannequin comes to life, and that's where the story gets going.  But yes, it would be nice to have a mom after Christmas too too?  That's the dilemma at the end.  You just wanted a mother for Christmas, little girl.  Stop being so selfish!  But seriously, we know where it all ends up.  It's just harmless fun.

We read tonight, back in Narnia, and we said our prayers too before bed.  It was a good day today, a better one than yesterday, and that's a good thing.  We were all pretty tired later on though, and sleep came pretty easy.  I'm not sure, but I think I heard a classic car driving by outside, driving through the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.  Was it a mannequin?

He'd probably be more effective at delivering packages than the Amazon delivery system today.  No joke: we got two separate incorrect deliveries today, one that was supposed to go across the street, and the other that's supposed to be somewhere on Little Mill Road.  We returned the one, and will have to wait until tomorrow for the other.

Speaking of driving around, we've been up and down our neighborhood at night looking at lights, and it's been beautiful.  Nana is enjoying that drive, but we all are.  We're listening to some of our new Christmas music and just seeing all the colorful and brilliant decorations.  It's been nice!
