The trees are all getting decorated - and you can see one of our new ornaments here on the main tree. This one was the first on the tree this year, the "Adoption" ornament we got from Dollywood. Here's the lady who created the artwork on this ornament, actually writing some of it out at the park.
It hangs at a nice spot at the tree for all to see, and how appropriate to put this one up now, given that this is "National Adoption Awareness Month." Of course, with only twelve months in the year, there's always something to be aware of, right? Obviously, with Madison, we're aware of adoption all year round. But perhaps instead of just designating a month to be aware of adoption, maybe some folks in government might make it easier for common people like us to actually adopt someone. It's been nearly ten years, but the memories of the process and the finances are still fresh. It was quite an ordeal. Not that we wouldn't do it all again to be with our daughter. But, it would be a nice incentive to people like us to actually adopt if we didn't have to pay off everyone in government here just to welcome someone into our family.
Speaking of Dollywood, we finally watched her Christmas movie tonight, "A Christmas of Many Colors." It was actually better than I thought it'd be, something the three of us really enjoyed a lot! Daddy was decorating the tree somewhat as we were watching. Things are getting decked around here, although there are still a lot of other halls to deck.
We were writing scripts today too, both for the upcoming Christmas production and also for the upcoming weekend at KidPak. That script is turning out fun, with a pardoned turkey named Drumstick. Or his name could be Wishbone. Either way, he's been pardoned without realizing it.
Speaking of which, we watched the official White House turkey pardoning ceremony today, where the President pardoned two turkeys, Wishbone and Drumstick. I think that's Wishbone up there in the picture, as from what we've been reading, Drumstick was a little unruly, uncooperative, and disrespectful. Based on this, we're assuming Drumstick voted for the other Presidential candidate last year.
Tonight we read from "The Thanksgiving Story" before bed, an older book from 1955, I think. It's actually well written, and the art, which you can see below, was pretty unique.
