And then there are days like today. Nobody said it would snow as much as it did, and yet there it all was, coming down thick, heavy and fast. The bus pulled up after school, and there Daddy was with two umbrellas - his big one, and the little pink one for Madison.
She didn't use it much. The reason for this was so she could open her mouth and try to catch snowflakes on her tongue. It's a little late in snowflake season, but these snowflakes were still ripe. They tasted just fine. And… they got us a little cold! There were so many of them that there were lots of flakes in our hair, and we were happy to get inside to watch it fall from the safety and warmth of the house. Daddy had started a fire that we kept going through the night. It was perfect fireplace weather.
The snow cancelled our plans for going down to speech therapy. It might not have hindered us much, but the traffic on the radio made it sound as if folks were having a hard time with it out there. So we put that off until next week. This was fine, as it gave us time to do homework, piano and even time to watch another camping-themed movie: "Daddy Day Camp."
This is a better movie than I remember it being. I know that Madison enjoyed it. It sort of capped a day that Daddy spent writing videos for filming tomorrow related to our series, "Roughin' It." Meanwhile, Madison was doing a bit of writing before the movie tonight, writing a bit of her homework assignment. She had to write something in about fifteen minutes, a story based on the idea generator she uses online. It told her to make a story using a doctor, and the concept of determination. So… this is what she came up with…
Once upon a time, there lived a determined doctor who wanted to take over the Earth. He made an invention called the World Blaster. But one day, when the doctor tried it, it blew up!
But the doctor was okay. He kept trying, but one day, he made a City Destroyer. The doctor tried that, but it just blew up Dinosaur Town.
He shot a volcano every time he shot his destroyer. But then the volcano exploded! But the lava just melted the destroyer. Everyone was happy that destroyer was gone.
The doctor tried to help rebuild Dinosaur town. But the doctor moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where it was more peaceful.
But when he woke up, people were protesting for him to go to jail. He didn't want to, but soon he went out after he took a shower. Then he jump roped all the way to jail, and they lived happily ever after.
Until Friday evening in Lexington, Massachusetts in 1906, March 31st. Then he took over the world. The end.
Now this is literature. I think my daughter is brilliant. You probably had no idea the world was taken over in 1906 in Lexington, Massachusetts. But… it was.
One of Daddy's writings for tomorrow's filming involved trees. Of course, we quote the poem in the video. But we also quote Groot: "I am Groot!" And with that thought in mind, we watched "Guardians of the Galaxy" again tonight. Not with Madison, of course. She was in bed before that, having just heard more about Mr. Toad and his prison sentence. "The Wind and the Willows" has been a fun read for us before bedtime. Madison is enjoying it, but so are Mommy and Daddy. It's a sweeter sort of story, a pleasant kind of literature to read before bed.
