This morning when leaving for school and work, we saw a special guest in the front driveway, so we had to stop for a while to visit and chat!
It was our resident turtle! I haven't seen this little one in a while, but Mom has seen our turtle more frequently, a nice and friendly sort, as turtles tend to be. It was a little anxious to get moving from out in the open, so Mom helped it along to a place where it could scramble for cover. Or at least waddle for cover. There are some places in the back yard where she's seen the turtle, and for this family, turtles always bring a smile!
Meet one of our minor prophets. We'll pretend this one is Malachi. He'll be making a small cameo in our upcoming December book, one where we've decided to make some of the characters look like Rankin and Bass characters. This other one probably looks a little too much like a certain very familiar Rankin and Bass character, but it looks cool just the same:
One thing we were doing today was filming a KPTV episode to be shown later at Thanksgiving time. This one featured me as a judge (alongside Shobie), the two of us tasting entries of a cooking contest to see which team made the best food. Things were rushed and there were unusual ingredients, and the end results were hilariously bad. In fact, spoiler here: the winning team claimed victory because out of four dishes we tried, there was only one thing we'd ever want to try again!
This chili was technically "edible." But it tastes about as good as it looks. Which is to say, it looks like something you find in your front yard that needs to be cleaned up before someone accidentally steps in it. But it was good fun, all the same, and we had a lot of laughs!
Maddie's been working on something for the church too. She's been working on this graphic that she's showing me, one for an upcoming event at the church. The students were tasked with creating a marketing idea and look, and she's been working on this at church and at home, learning how to use the tools on her computer along the way. She's enjoying class a lot, and wants to stick with marketing right now.
The weather is getting cooler outside, and it's wonderful. Mom was starting to pack for a trip, and we're delighted to see the forecast for our trip being chilly - but sunny. Perfection. We're looking forward to it. There are things like glassblowing and perhaps even me working at a blacksmith shop, plus the musicians and all those pumpkins. It's going to be wonderful.
Tonight we watched "Hocus Pocus," continuing our seasonal marathon. Also our Odd Bodkins marathon! And we read some more tonight too, laughing out loud at the appearance of DEATH. We were wondering when he was going to show up! It's been a good book so far, with a lot of things to figure out soon enough. We're enjoying it.
We closed out the day with prayers. The Plush Entourage went down the hall and everyone got tucked in. Time to get some sleep!
