Bradley's Pumpkins

We were at KidPak this morning, and it was a bit frantic, but it was a fantastic morning continuing our "Lost World" series.  We've had all these inflatable dinosaurs, and those have been super fun this series.  Maddie took this picture above of Megan, who had the inflatable raptor costume on for a fun segment of the skit.  The message today was about the full armor of God, and our dinosaur we were talking about this morning was the ankylosaurus, which was always my favorite.  It was great fun, with another solid morning.

The weather was rainy, but we spotted a window today in the weather, and I knew we could make a dash after church over towards the western part of Dawson Country, where we once again visited Bradley's Pumpkin Patch!

It was overcast, and to start out there was some drizzling rain, but it was nothing to keep us from enjoying our visit.  You can see we posed for a photo with Bradley - top right - and his dad Tony as well.  Both have been long-time volunteers for Free Chapel, guiding traffic every service, except those in the fall months when it comes time to run the farms.

We're always here to pick up some pumpkins.  Maddie got her pumpkin here, Mom got a white pumpkin, and I got myself another pumpkin here as well.  But one thing we could not pass up was the muscadine slushies they make here.  I just love those so much - it's a unique drink that's worth the drive.

Maddie enjoyed the visit, and to add to things, we were just amazed at one fun fact we discovered.  One of Maddie's classmates in taekwondo is actually Tony's grandson.  Bradley is his uncle.  We had no idea, and Maddie has been amazed that all this time we had no idea about this!

The pumpkins were nice out there on the yard, along with some photo ops and of course the building there itself, which has all kinds of goodies in it.

We picked up some honey and some more muscadine cider as well indoors.  A few visits ago, I got a few items from their "Big Foot" section, a small area that has some stuff with Big Foot on them.  Today, I wore the t-shirt and the Big Foot socks back to the farms, just for giggles.

They loved that so much they took a photo of my socks and even posted them online!  We walked around inside, picking up a few things and of course spending a good deal of time talking with the folks there too.  It was nice.

There were pumpkin decorations all over, but some of the other displays were covered up.  Heavy rains had come through earlier, and possibly later too.  We were glad to have that small window to come visit.  Yesterday was an idea weather day, although we had other destinations in mind.  Still it was really pleasant here - you can see Maddie on the front porch, talking with Tony for a bit.

Every single Sunday, as he was directing traffic, he'd wave at Maddie and threaten to "get that purse."  She had different purses and he was of course playing around.  Sometimes she actually believed it, and she'd preemptively hide her purse behind her back as she walked towards the church.  He's a good guy, always out there and always smiling as he greets churchgoers.

We had to get back - it was a good long visit though.  We had just enough time to get home, and I was heading back to church after that for a prayer service tonight.  Maddie was getting a shower and doing some reading, and when I got home, we were watching "Chicken Little," another seasonal favorite of ours.

We read after that, and we of course prayed.  It was a good day today at church, and off getting a few more pumpkins.  The weather may have been off-and-on rainy, but we made the best of it.
