Rainy Day Drive

We left a little later this morning, mainly because Daddy has been working on material for the new series this weekend.  We were still proofing booklets today, and later on working on the issue of Parenting Matters.  The in-between part?  Answer: a long drive down to Daytona.

We had a rather dull drive today, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.  We were listening to Riders Radio again, as well as some other musical selections.  We stopped in Cordele, which is our tradition lately:  we eat at that Chick-Fil-A there, which has very good customer service.  We were just talking about how profitable Chick-Fil-A's are to Madison, because of their great customer service, and lo!  Daddy's order was wrong.  Instead of the twelve grilled chicken nuggets I ordered, I instead got eight.  So I went back to the counter, and without even looking at the receipt, they turned around and gave me sixteen.  I only write all this to say I was just talking to Madison about this.

The three of us had a nice meal, and stopped at the Florida Welcome Center, although when we were down there, it was rainy and the temperature was in the 60's.  Not quite the sunny welcome you'd expect from The Sunshine State!  The nuisance rain stayed with us all the way until around Volusia County, and from there on, things were chilly, windy, but not quite as rainy.

It was a pretty boring drive!  But we got there in good time, and it was a warm reunion for all of us, with daylight still streaming through the clouds outside.  The wave are crashing up close to the walls, and nobody is out there right now.  It's cold and it's rough.  Only those brave surfers with body suits would try this sort of stuff, but they say it's somewhat dangerous out there right now, with the tide pulling people away from shore.  Not that we'd ever go that far out there ourselves.

We did quite a bit of talking and catching up and some reading after that.  Daddy was working on some KidPak related material for this weekend.  We're talking about the Pool of Bethesda, which is a place that Daddy has been to (and no, I'm not talking about that swimming pool we went to recently). This was in Israel some time ago, a nice trip full of memories.  Here we are, writing about it as a staff member, twenty-one years later.  Amazing.  Anyway, before we go for today, here's the back of the Parenting Matters I made tonight in Florida, which has a summary of the message we'll be sharing this upcoming weekend.
