Mr. Rabbit

Okay, so ironically Daddy is the one that gets sick today.  Which is fine, I suppose, as long as Madison is feeling better.  In fact, she was feeling much better today.  No incidents whatsoever, whereas Daddy has the beginnings of strep throat.  Again!  Whassup with that?

Today, being a Wednesday, was a big work day for Daddy.  The neat thing about the mornings though is that I still get to spend a little time in the car with Madison.  Daddy drops her off at school each morning, and although it is a short drive, there is still a considerable wait time when you arrive there.  We spend each morning telling stories or talking about pirates, which seems to be Madison's frame of mind still.  This morning's conversation was Captain Barbossa.  She wanted to hear a story about him after he turns to a good guy.

I'm not entirely sure if he turns to a good guy entirely.  I suppose on the good-bad scale, he's still closer to the middle - but he certainly seems to lean towards bad.  But in Madison's pirate universe - which is the Lego pirate universe - he's a peg-legged, frog-throwin' source of awesomeness.

Arrr!  Speaking of "arrr," of course you know that "Talk Like a Pirate Day" is coming up soon.  It's actually the tenth anniversary of this unique holiday, and one we'll all be sure to celebrate.

This weekend is another Dragon Boat Festival.  We missed last year's, but hopefully we can catch this year's event.  It's great because it is right here in Gainesville, right at the sight of the Olympic rowing venue.  Hopefully the weather will hold out, and we'll all be able to enjoy a good morning watching Chinese dancers, dragonboats, and checking out all the booths.

Madison is listening to a few of her keyboard songs for homework.  The first thing to do is listen to the song a few times:  but that's enough for all of us.  The song "Mr. Rabbit" gets wedged in your ears, and won't come out!  We can't get this song out of our heads!

I wonder what the science of a song stuck in your head is?  Last year, it was "Friday" and this year it seems to be "Call Me Maybe."  These songs are lethal.  All it takes is one or two plays, and they reverberate in your skull over and over again for the next few hours.  You want to get them out of your head, but you can't!  Such is currently the case with "Mr. Rabbit."  He is not to be trifled with!

So last week Daddy got a t-shirt that says, "I'm Your Density."  It's written with the same font from the movie title "Back to the Future."  That's all it took for a few friends to crack up at the obscure reference, although quite a few other people had NO IDEA what the t-shirt meant.  Still, one good friend let us borrow the new set on Blu-Ray.  We have it on DVD, but this new set has the movie ride and hours of extra footage.  Basically, for Mommy and Daddy, it's been "Back to the Future" week here at the house.  We've seen a metric ton of extra footage and behind-the-scenes videos - and watched the first movie.  We're big fans, obviously.  We certainly miss the ride at Universal Studios.  But it's neat they have all the footage from the ride on this Blu-Ray set.

Well, tomorrow Daddy's going to the doctor.  Again, the good news is that everyone else appears well. So now, it's time for bed and hopefully a good night's rest.  And hopefully I can get "Mr. Rabbit" out of my head!
