The Hulk Message

Right after Summer Xtreme, we started a new series the next four Sundays of KidPak, one that looks at more superheroes, these in addition to the four we looked at during the week of Summer Xtreme.  That being said, we had messages themed to Iron Man, Spider-Man and Superman during the week.  Today's message, as you can see above, was related to the Incredible Hulk.

There’s a struggle inside all of us. It’s one that rages on as fierce as a battle between two comic book heroes with super strength. This is a battle of the mind – and a battle for self-control.
We’ve got to build up our spiritual muscles and be strong if we’re going to win this contest. We’ve got to fight against those urges we sometimes have to do the wrong thing. If we don’t do that, we run the risk of leaving a path of destruction wherever we go. Sin is an abomination. It can cause as much damage as the Incredible Hulk – it’s a path of pain, damage and regret to ourselves and others. That’s why we’ve got to win this battle on the inside.
But how do we do that? Many try and fail, but those who rely on God have discovered the secret. Faith in God can move mountains, and that’s stronger than any superhero out there. If we put our faith in him, and exercise our muscles of self-control, we can win this battle and have more power.

“Scripture says, ‘When you are angry, do not sin.’ — Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” Ephesians 4:26 NIrV

“A man who can’t control himself is like a city whose walls are broken down.” Proverbs 25:28 NIrV

“All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.” Ephesians 2:3 NIV

We brought back the old "Superhero Race," which Madison and the other kids loved as well.  Lots of destruction on the screen this morning, as you could imagine.  Daddy even did a video dressed as a military guy talking about the Hulk.  It was fun!

The rest of the day was about rest.  After that week last week, and then a full day of work yesterday, we're still catching up on that much-needed rest.  Besides, the temperature has been soaring outside.  So we stayed indoors after church.  We watched "Finding Nemo" again, mainly because the sequel comes out this Friday. We'll be seeing that as a part of Summer Xtreme in Gwinnett.  Madison and Daddy were battling on Disney Infinity with go-karts.  Ultron vs. Nick Wilde on go-karts.

And before bed and prayers, we've been reading "The Prince and the Pauper," which everyone is enjoying.  It's one of those hard-to-put-down books, actually.  But Madison let us know when she was ready for bed.  When Madison tells you it's time to go to bed, then you know it is seriously time to go to bed!

Daddy:  "Good night, sweetie!"
Madison:  "Love you!"
Daddy:  (joking) "I was talking to Mom!"
Madison:  (joking) "So was I!"
