Mother's Day 2014

It was Mother's Day today, and as described yesterday, Mommy had a tough night with stomach problems pretty late into it.  She's okay today, but currently fast asleep taking a well-deserved nap this afternoon.  Meanwhile, Madison has been playing piano, practicing her recital pieces downstairs with the volume turned down low - and afterwards, creating on Disney Infinity this hotel which is in fact a trap filled with explosives for the weary traveler.

This morning's service was pretty fun at KidPak.  We had all dressed up like beatniks and did a sort of beat poetry thing that I wrote up on Friday.  It honored mothers for Mother's Day, and even had a guy playing the bongos.  That was Mommy's idea.  It was a really fun skit, actually, because we were all acting pretentious and melodramatic.  The kids responded to it well, even though they didn't quite get the whole idea I'm sure.  This is the sort of thing that even predates Daddy.  But it was a fun morning overall, a special tribute to moms out there.

Meanwhile, our Mommy was ready to go home quickly after a full morning.  We did just that, but couldn't help posing for a few pictures with the decorative scenery upstairs:

Typing this later on:  Mommy is up, after sleeping quite late.  Madison did a lot of piano, continuing her practice on the numbers she has to do for her recital.  She is getting better and better and faster and faster with these.  It's not a race, of course.  But she does seem to know them rather comfortably.  We also did a bit of exploration with Disney Infinity, playing a game that's lasted quite some time for us.  We've been pacing ourselves through this one and a few other games - the end result is that we're not really without any games to play there.  However, Daddy wants to get back to a board game or two, and soon.  We've been cleaning out that basement, and Daddy saw quite a few down there, including that Brave Monopoly that we can return to.  We'll see how that goes as summer approaches.  Just two more weeks of school to go.

Mommy had a sleepy sort of day, but tomorrow should be even more restful for her, as there isn't much to do but take Madison back to the dentist.  Her flowers look nice sitting on the table in the official flower delivery truck, and the numerous cards she got this week are decorating a table by the living room.  Mommy is well loved, proven by a huge hug she got just before Madison's bedtime.

Speaking of which, it's almost our bedtime as well.  Time to sit down for a bit and watch a bit more "Monk," and then turn in for the night!
