National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day

It's National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day!  Earlier this year, Mom was writing various random holidays like this on the calendar, and as soon as I got home from the office, I noticed what was written for today:  "NATIONAL CHOCOLATE COVERED RAISIN DAY."  Yeah, that's when I decided to turn right around and head out again to the grocery store.  Maddie and I went and got some Raisinets to celebrate this very important holiday.  I have no idea why today is National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day, as there's nothing found immediately online to explain the origin of this immense holiday.  I looked through several webpages talking about the day and about chocolate covered raisins, and I discovered that they were first manufactured in 1927.  So we're almost at the century mark for these treasured treats.  I haven't had one in ages, but Mom and I scarfed a lot of this bag tonight while we all sat down to watch "Spider-man 2."  Maddie is not a fan of chocolate covered raisins... oh well!  More for us!

We were doing a good bit of work today, meetings and so on.  College continues for Maddie, and the weather outside is cool in the mornings but warming up nicely in the afternoons to the point of actually being kind of hot.  The bluebirds are looking for housing opportunities around our property, and all the birds are happily eating the seeds we place out there.  Mom has added some food for the smaller birds, so we're seeing a lot more sparrows and finches lately, on top of the usual customers we see.

She had the last Braves game of Spring Training playing today on our new channel - they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in this last one.  Of course, these games don't mean much in regards to standings or anything like that, but it's better to be winning games, right?  In fact, the Atlanta Braves ended Spring Training with a 21-7 record, the best in Major League Baseball.  The season starts pretty soon, and we're happy to have BravesVision so we can watch most of these games now.

This evening she had some really nice potato soup for us when I got home.  We had a great meal together, and after the movie we did our usual online puzzles and it was time to head up for a good night's rest.  We read more from "Night Watch," and after that said our prayers.  Time for some sleep - it was a pretty good day.
