The Sea Monkey food pack is just about out today - in fact, I think I used up largely the last spoonful of food to feed the little guys and gals. This comes three years after I put the first food in there. The little ones are happily swimming around in the tank there, no sign of slowing down after all these years! So Mom ordered a replacement pack of food, and a new oxygenator too - but this is cool: they sent me a pretty awesome "Thank You" card, plus a few stickers as well. Really cool!
This morning I was out there blowing leaves again, something that takes a good bit of time because of these blessed trees all around. But I'm getting there, maybe a little over halfway done, perhaps? Not sure - it takes hours. I was listening on the headphones as I stood out there in the cool of the day, jamming to a bunch of old school Newsboys tunes. The era up until around 2009 was really the one to listen to, and particularly in light of recent events with the band, the only era to listen to. They were a big part of our story - on my first date with Mom, she gave me a Newsboys CD, "Take Me to Your Leader." And the song "Entertaining Angels" had a lot to do with why my parents were good with marrying Mom - the word "angels" and "24-7" are mentioned a lot in the chorus of that song, and Ye-Ye looked that up in the Bible, just because he felt like he needed to. And sure enough, the first mention of angels and 24:7 is in Genesis 24:7, which mentions sending someone ahead to go and find a bride for an only son. So dad was good to go on us getting married. It was a sign.
Later on, we went to see them in concert for the first time with the "Love Liberty Disco" tour, which was amazing. I think we drove over to Cartersville for that. It was worth it. So I love this band a lot. I'll always remember driving the trips to Florida for vacations, and playing the latest Newsboys CD on the way down there. When the lead singer and writer left, the band got a new singer and the sound changed quite a bit, and the songs became a bit more generic. I just never got into the new sound. They were okay from that point on, just not our taste so much after that point. But up until that point, they were pretty iconic - my favorite Christian band. I still love listening to them in fact. Hard to pick a favorite release, but there were some really great ones.
Anyway, tonight Maddie was off at taekwondo, and I was doing some grocery shopping. I picked up the usual stuff, plus some extras - like some Easter-themed cheese.
It's from England, some Wensleydale with raspberry and white chocolate. That should be a fun little snack. But also, I picked up some Passover items for next week. I can't believe all that is here already - we'll have Passover and Easter, and so much to do there.
Maddie was at school today, and she was trying out an elective: dance ministry. It was tough! She's not so sure about this one!
Meanwhile, we got some cleaning done down in the basement, and I've been making trips to Goodwill to drop things off there, clearing out space here and there. I got my walking in, still walking in Dublin, and we listened to the Braves game today - only one more to go for Spring Training.
Tonight Maddie was all onboard for a revisit to the Spider-man movies. There's a new one coming out later on this year, so we're cycling through the movies again here, and that first one is just so epic. There was so much on the line with that one, and it set the tone for what Spider-man movies should be. I've already commented on this blog earlier about this movie in particular, and how necessary it was for our nation in particular, and the story of us seeing it down in Orlando too. Tomorrow we'll see "Spider-man 2," another legendary movie - two of my favorite superhero movies ever.
We read tonight, and said our prayers afterwards. It's been a pretty good day.
