The Corpse Bride Virtual Marathon

Okay, here we go again with another virtual marathon!  Yesterday I finished up the Scooby Doo one, and so today in the spirit of the season I thought I'd try out this one based on the movie, "The Corpse Bride."  My bib is above there (minus the name), and I'll have to print that tomorrow I think.  But today I started out on the track and got about 2.02 miles in, enough to earn a couple characters in a message - the Van Dorts.  I even made a AI version of myself as a character (for my profile), one that could be seen in that world, maybe...

Call me the Corpse Dad.  This new virtual track is about ten miles longer than the Scooby Doo one, and it should carry me right into the heart of October, so it'll be a fun theme to follow throughout the season here!

Today was a quiet day again, especially in the morning - we all got to sleep in!  We set the alarm to take our various supplements that go with the detox program, but we went right back to sleep after that, which was a nice blessing.  It rained all through the night, and that was nice for sleeping too.  Maddie didn't have chapel this morning, as she's going to be working a good bit on Friday with the Divine Conference, possibly making very large containers of lemonade.  I'll be helping as well, watching some of the staff kids, I believe.  It's going to be a big event, with a large crowd.  Need to be well-rested, right?

Maddie was working on some Marcom homework, working on some graphic ideas for Forward next year, learning some of the tools on her computer and Illustrator.  She spent a good bit of time doing that today, until I got home at least.  Then it was time to head off to Edge studios for some taekwondo.  She was helping as a guest instructor, and then after that in her leadership class.  This will be her last appearance before she goes to her testing.  We have the forms filled out for that and she's ready for that penultimate testing.

Speaking of "forms," Maddie had a form filled out today to go to Homecoming!  Last year she was at her Homecoming with her friends, but this year she has a date for a Homecoming dance, that being Nate of course.  Nate is a senior this year, and so he's asked her to come to the dance with her.  The two should have a nice time, somewhat like that prom a few months ago.  But how cool is it that she gets to go to another Homecoming?  That'll be in a few weeks, right when we're all super busy with all kinds of activities.  October is a crazy but fun month!

Mom has even more Bones Coffee bags out now, and they're all delicious.  Tomorrow I'll get some more Frog's Breath, my favorite.  But today's "Army of Dark Chocolate" was just wonderful.  Yes, it is fall now, and to prove it, I found this beautiful leaf in the driveway.  Leaves don't usually grab my attention, but the color of this one was so vibrant that I picked it up and handed it to Mom as if it were a lovely flower.

We still have the leaf inside the house - a promise of the colors to come on trees around us.  Tonight after taekwondo, we watched "Scooby Doo 2," of course.  That's part of our fall series of movies, but also the official wrap-up of the whole Scooby Doo marathon thing we've been doing.  I've watched every episode while marching along on the treadmill, and on top of all that, Mom has gotten me a few early gifts:  some awesome Scooby Doo socks and a new Scooby Doo t-shirt!  Great stuff!

Tonight we were reading some more from Ankh-Morpork, getting very close to the end of this current story.  The golem king has been conquered by Dorfl, and the threats seem to be gone - now it's time to go after the one responsible for it all, and wrap this story up.  It's been good, and Maddie's ready to continue in the Discworld on to the next City Watch adventure.

Afterwards, it was time for prayers and some sleep.  Maddie's got this pesky cough all week, and we're giving her medication, but it might be that she stays home tomorrow to recover.  It's rare that she gets sick, but this cough just keeps going on and on.  We know others with the same situation, so it's something going around.  Maddie will be okay.  She's on medication tonight, and sleeping well.
