The Holy Grail

Big night tonight:  Maddie was introduced to Monty Python.  The most influential comedy team of all time, and yet for all these years Maddie hasn't really seen anything from them.  Sure, she's seen the skits and routines influenced by them, the memes and so forth.  But tonight she got to see what all the fuss was about.  I remember seeing this for the first time and had to see it again to get some of the humor, and that may be the case with Maddie too.  The abrupt ending, for example, was something that was hilariously shocking.  Like, what?  Is that for real?  And if you're a real fan, you sit there and listen to all the music after the ending there.  I was surprised just how many bits of dialogue I could quote while the movie was playing.  It's a classic.

So, one reason for this is the marathon I'm having on the treadmill, watching every episode of every season on this DVD set that Mom got me some time ago.  I thought I'd return to it, and I've completely forgotten about some of it, while other things I can quote verbatim.  These were the comedy sketches of my teenage years, stuff we'd quote back and forth all the time.

It's raining outside.  Again.  Constantly, we're out there, getting the water that's accumulated on the canopy, and of course getting somewhat soaked.  The weather is nice and cool outside though, and that's pleasant.  It's been great sitting on the front porch outside, reading our books as the rain falls down around us.

I got a skit done tonight, pretty much.  It's the one for week two of our "Inside Out" series where we're inside David's head with the emotions from "Inside Out."  He's facing off against Goliath, and that's fun.

For some "research," at one point Maddie and I were playing the "Inside Out" game on Disney Infinity, and we got a couple levels done.  That was fun, pulling out the five figurines, the power discs and all that again.  I'm probably going to play some more as the weeks progress.  Just for the memories!

Tonight we closed out things with reading from Discworld, attempting to figure out whodunnit, a real crime story in Ankh-Morpork with about three victims so far.  After all this, it was time for some sleep.  We said our prayers, and got some rest afterwards.
