So we had our "Thwomp" themed service this morning at Kidpak, and it was super fun! We had the skit above, and you can see Maddie and her Toad friends interacting with a Thwomp on stage, and yes, that's me. The skit worked out really well, and was pretty focused and specific, and pretty fun too - the Thwomp's dialogue was essentially: "Urrr!" And speaking of which, here are some clips from Josh's video this morning too:
It was a fun day. Maddie enjoyed the skit, and the usual game of UNO afterwards in the office with the other cast mates. We're also still working on a good bit of Easter details, and other productions too, so lots going on here. We picked up some Chili on the way home, and also some free food from Race Trak. Evidently, I've stored up thousands of points there with my account, and that will all expire in a few months, so we're going there a little more often lately in order to use up the points for free snacks and gas discounts. Anyway, after eating we got home and Maddie went to work on her school assignments, while Mom took a good nap.
Tonight we watched "Night at the Museum" again, because I like that movie and it sets up our viewing of the second one on Tuesday. We played some Mario Party too, enjoying the river raft game as well. And we wrapped up the day tonight with some reading from the devotional, and from "The Last Continent." It was a good day, but wow, it got cold quickly. This morning's rain was torrential, and the temperature just dropped during church to a point where we were all moving pretty quickly to our cars to get some warmth as soon as possible. Tonight, we're deep under the blankets, and will sleep well with that. It's been a good day though.
We don't usually watch the Academy Awards, because the movies nominated are usually not something we even know about so much anymore, but this year there were a few nominees for actors and actresses, and we were quietly really hoping they would win... and they all did tonight. Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan both won, and that's the first time two Asians have won such big awards on the same night, and for Michelle Yeoh, the first time an Asian woman had won Best Leading Actress ever. Both thanked their moms, and it was just a really sweet moment, reminding the audience to never stop dreaming, and that even someone who looks like they do can be up there. Compared to last year, it seemed like a really nice night, and a great moment for Asians everywhere. Tomorrow I'll proudly wear my Goonies shirt, and I want to go back and watch "Supercop" again, or maybe "George of the Jungle." The geek in me was happy to see Encino Man, Wai Lin, Shortround and Nora Krank all win Oscars last night.
I'll end this post by saying, "Urrr!"
