Beware the Ides of March!

This is a season at school where Maddie and her fellow students have been reading and studying "Julius Caesar," and it happens that in fact there was a bit of overlap today with the classic epic holiday, "The Ides of March."  Okay, it's not really a holiday.  It's just an opportunity for one or two people to give out the stern warning of "Beware the Ides of March!"  And in fact, that's what happened over the announcements today at the high school, which of course was fun, and perhaps made more fun by the fact that one of Maddie's friends had followed that up with "It's Julius Caesar Stabbing Day!"  Or something like that.  Maddie didn't stab anyone today, and in fact she didn't even have a Caesar salad or wear a toga.  But there was at least one or two utterances of the famous phrase, which is filled with all kinds of forbeoding, despite the fact that it wasn't too bad of a day.  For example, Maddie was over at FCY tonight, and she actually had a decent time there.  I dropped her off and tonight's goal was to recruit some of the youth workers and see if I could get a few more disciples - actually, we did accomplish our task, and now have a full table for our Last Supper scene at Easter.  Next we have to finish up recruiting Roman solders, which is an entirely different job of course.  These are "the bad guys," despite the fact that each year these are the ones that are nearly in tears after it is all said and done, as the actors have such great hearts that this sort of behavior is so detestable.  It's all an act, of course, but the reality of the situation starts peeking in a little stronger to these guys, just a glimpse of the horrible events that Jesus went through for us.

It was a slow day otherwise.  I'm struggling with a script again, working out something to do with Minecraft while finishing up one last Weird Science message.  Keynotes, props, messages, emails, and so on.  Mom is working on the costume for Mary Magdaline, and we're doing all kinds of other things in between.  We're teaching another college class this week, and that's going surprisingly well, and on top of that there is an Esther production we're developing too, so there's a lot going on of course.  It would be nice to have a break, but the only multi-day rest I tend to get are those that are a result of some severe sickness or hospital visit.  Maybe we'll get to do something this summer.

Maddie got home and we had time to watch "The Bad Batch" tonight, so we checked that out of course.  And then it was bedtime:  we read from our devotional and we read from the Discworld too.  But we made it quick, as it was late and time for sleep.
