Madison got that letter again today, the one that announced that somebody in her classroom went home early because they had lice. This is the same letter we got several times last year. I'm surprised it took so long to get this year. Anyway, the end result was more washing and checking - so far, Madison's clean this year. It helps that she got her hair cut again about a month ago. She's about half the length, which means half the length to comb through, looking for those annoying little white things. Ugh.
Tonight was KidPak, and we had a great skit with kids dressed up as cows all over the stage. We used our Chick-Fil-A Day costumes, and had cowboys herding the kids across the stage. It was a fun night for everyone!
Madison got a 104 on her solar system test. Which is awesome. Once again, I think we overstudied. But this time, it really didn't take long for Madison to remember some obscure facts, like Jupiter has at least 63 moons, or it takes Mercury 88 days to go around the sun. She has these numbers in her head, and now Daddy does too.
So the big news of the day was an amusing phone call that Daddy got from Mommy. "Amusing" might not be the best way to describe it. And it wasn't presented this way either, but still it's funny: there was good news and bad news. The good news is that Madison's foot pedal came in for her piano. It looks great and it works perfectly. Madison was excited to try it out, practicing a bit now. The bad news was that Daddy has to see a surgeon. The HIDA test revealed that Daddy has a low-functioning gall bladder. Daddy didn't get this call, but even so, there are plenty of questions that remain. How low-functioning is it? What happens next? The fact that Daddy has to see a surgeon next sort of explains a little: there might be some surgery coming up soon. Daddy's been struggling for a bit, and maybe this will help out. I don't know. Eating food hasn't been as fun as it used to be! So we'll keep everyone updated on that. This will be Daddy's first surgery, if it is in fact surgery that has to happen.
Tonight, Daddy got home after church, and there was still a little time for something Christmas-related to watch. We saw a Christmas episode of "The Honeymooners" and even one of "Car 54 Where Are You?" Tonight we were bookmarking a lot of these online to watch later. This year, we're diving into the old classic television shows, and their Christmas episodes. Another one we watched was an episode of "The Twilight Zone." Apparently it was Art Carney Night at the house (he's in "The Honeymooners"). In "The Twilight Zone," he plays a guy who just wishes he could be Santa Claus for one night.
We love this show. Tonight we got to bed early afterwards, as we've all been a bit tired with all the activity. But we've still got plenty more plans ahead, that's for sure. Crazy thought: this time next week we'll finally know - I hope - who won the election.
