Big Beautiful Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July!  We had our front porch decorated nicely as you can see, and the day was really quite nice.  I had all those patriotic music selections playing all day on vinyl and CD, which is rapidly becoming something no one uses anymore - CDs.  But I still play them!  Anyway, Mom likes the music from Disney World, the Voices of Liberty, and we also listen to that Phil Driscoll patriotic CD as well.  But there were some new vinyl records that I've picked up as well.   And check out Mom's skillet breakfast!

We spent most of the day writing, walking on treadmills, playing Minecraft, and watching a few things on television - we saw some events in Washington, and even tonight we were watching all the fireworks from various places. throughout the country.  Patriotic sort of day!  We even took time to watch the new Hall of Presidents presentation down in Orlando, they have that updated now, which is pretty cool.  The last two Presidents now seem to have a  really good likeness.

Later on, we went over to pick up Nate so he could share the evening's entertainment with us.  We started with a standard Fourth of July dinner, one that started out with Mom making all kinds of good food indoors, from macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob - and all the toppings for the hot dogs and hamburgers that I was grilling outside.  It was quite a patriotic feast, a big, beautiful meal!

After that, it was time to celebrate our nation's birthday with an enormous amount of fireworks.  It's an incalculable how many explosions there were tonight in our country.  It's just amazing - later on tonight when dropping Nate off, driving through a few counties here and just seeing the skies exploding all around us with color and sound.  That's honestly one of the greatest things for me, that moment where you're walking through the neighborhood and just hearing the constant rumble and boom all around us, normally probably something disconcerting, but tonight it's such a wonderful noise to all, except I suppose certain pets.  We did see a lot of dogs tonight walking along and not having any issues at all with the explosive noises, but I know there are certain animals that are terrified.  Our sea monkeys seem to be doing just fine!

Anyway, it was a fantastic day.  We had no threat of rain whatsoever, and though it was somewhat humid, it wasn't that bad at all outside.  We started the evening over across the street, and Maddie just loves watching the fireworks across the street. She knows they aren't as ginormous as the ones we see later on, but it's still just a friendly time with families from the surrounding houses.

Afterwards, it was time to see the big fireworks, the tremendous fireworks that you usually only see at community centers, sports events and amusement parks on holidays.  But we have neighbors further down that invest a lot in fireworks, and people come from a long distance to see it, positioned along the sidewalk  to watch.  We were at another neighbor's house, on the back deck, and we got to see everything from that spot - a really nice view.

It was a great, great day.  Later we got Nate back home, seeing a lot of fireworks still going off in his neighborhood even close to 11:30pm there - lots of fireworks.  Our neighborhood had the best though, and it was just wonderful.  It was a good day.  We got home, said our prayers, and it was late - it's time for bed.

Before we leave, here's some pictures from our wonderful Fourth of July.
