Memorial Day weekend is here again, and we celebrated over at Aunt Shain's place with the usual large feast of grilled foods and summer fare, and good company. There was much talk of the cruise that the Aunt Shain and the cousins just got off of, which sounded really nice - plus they went the Renaissance Festival, which sounded about how we remembered it. It was good to catch up, and great food too. Nice family time. We even headed outside to play croquet for a while, a fun game in the cooler weather with overcast skies - not too hot at all.
You can see the added obstacles there, creating an extra bit of chaos. Maddie was struggling at one point, but right at the point where she was all the way back, halfway across the course, she went on this amazing run, hitting Hannah's ball with a long distance shot that gave her the extra shot to sneak by half the field for a a surprising come-from-behind win.
The turtles were not impressed. But they seem to be doing well. These have been around with the family for many years now. Anyway, we had a great night together, and just hung around talking as always, happy to be together.
And earlier today?
Well, it was Sunday of course! We were at KidPak for the final day of Kingdom Quest, which went very well. We did a matching game to see if the boys team or the girls team could get the memory verse in order first. We had trivia questions too, boys versus girls, and just had a pretty solid morning at KidPak. Maddie took pictures as always, sharing them on the church site, and I've got a few posted here below.
We rested at home and then headed over to the Memorial Day celebration - and after that, it was time to celebrate Towel Day! That's today, by the way, the day to watch "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and the day to drape a towel over your shoulder. The two of things things happen to be related, should you be familiar with the famous books.
There were some storms coming through tonight, but overall the weather was okay. We did our reading tonight, and we said our prayers too. It's been a good day!
