We had a great service this morning with the Royal KidPak Players performing an abbreviated version of the story of Ruth. I sort of pictured us as some team of actors at a Renaissance Festival doing a whole lot of overacting and bits to get kids laughing. It was a great morning, and I even got to hold a skull and do an entire death sequence quoting Shakespeare. Actually, three of us did right away, as there are three husbands in the story of Ruth that don't actually survive that long. Given that two of them have names that translated mean "sick" and "dwindling," I suppose it wasn't so much of a surprise. Anyway, it was a fun morning, and Maddie took a lot of great photos of our entire service, some of which I have posted here below.
You can see Camille speaking more about Ruth, as that was our theme for the day. This was a great Mother's Day message, because yes, today was Mother's Day!
Maddie picked out a nice card for Mom and had that for her this morning, and on the kitchen counter there was a tall beautiful orchid for Mom. She spotted this one a few days ago and liked it, so we snuck back there and picked it up. Also, there was more bath gel and a candy bar. She likes the Japanese Cherry blossom bath gel from Bath & Body Works, so we had one of those from our trip a while back, holding on to it until now.
We also went over to Nana and Ye-Ye's house after the service, bringing Nana some flowers and a card - we had gotten her Cirque du Soleil tickets for later on this summer too. We sat and talked for a while, catching up, and wishing Aunt Shain a safe trip down to Florida for her cruise. She's going to Miami with her kids, Maddie's cousins, and they're going on a cruise. Should be fun!
We had a late lunch with rotisserie chicken and potatoes, and then did a little bit of catching up around the house. Tonight's movie was "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," just to go with our Medieval theme somewhat. And tonight we were back in Überwald on the Discworld, as we're getting ready to finish up this story, "Carpe Jugulum." It seems as if the vampires have been stricken with some sort of ailment that has weakened them terribly, and that's good news for the humans. We're not sure what happened here, but sure Granny Weatherwax has something to do with it, and all will be explained soon!
The day was closed out with prayers and getting the Plush Entourage back to get tucked in for a good night's rest. It was a fun day today, and a happy Mother's Day.
