More rain today, and cold too! This chilly weather gets you to your bones - we're dressing up again, layering and all that. We had a nice weather pattern there for just a bit and we got spoiled. Now it's time to remember what winter is supposed to be like. I've got my space heater on in my office, because it is well known that our office is not a place to go for warmth.
Anyway, tonight was FCY as always, and it's been a good month at church on Wednesday nights. I dropped Maddie off so she could enjoy the service there. A friend she invited from taekwondo returned, and that's great news. Maddie's been really good at rounding up people to come to FCY. Proud of her for that!
Maddie had a great night - Pastor Tucker spoke there. You know, Maddie's former instructor from taekwondo? He's been with us on staff at Midtown for a while, and is now with FCY here in Gainesville. Just to show the passage of time here, the taekwondo student that showed up at FCY had no idea who Pastor Tucker even is. Meaning: Tucker is a fourth degree black belt from Edge, where this student is, as well as a Free Chapel staff member for a few years. But still, he's a new face! Regardless of any of this, a great time was had by all tonight as they moved along at FCY with the current series.
Mom and I were at home watching "Son of Flubber," and man I love that one. So many great faces in that movie, so many old-school actors we love. It was the conclusion of our little "Flubber-thon," where we watched three of the old Medfield College movies. We're not starting on the Dexter Riley or the Merlin Jones stuff this time around. But Fred MacMurray was so great in these old Flubber movies. Makes me want to get a Model T and ride it around above the clouds.
Anyway, we had a decent day today. Quiet day for Maddie, although she's working on that fish drawing and it's looking fantastic. This is an ongoing project. Her other classes are just sort of going through the motions, as she's got a case of "senioritis" by now, as well as many other seniors. Only a few months to go... I can't believe we're already here.
We read tonight, and we said our prayers too. In our book, the big wedding of Verence and Magrat is about to take place, and the elves have got a plan, although we haven't seen them fully yet. But Esme is certainly on to them. We'll see how things unfold, but it's been a fun book.
Okay, time to get all bundled up under those covers. That's one of the fun things about winter: the piles of blankets. Let's get some sleep in our little bundled-up caverns.
