Today we were playing with army soldiers, and honestly this was probably the most fun I've ever had playing with army soldiers. Not that we were really playing with army soldiers - we were filming a KPTV video. But who am I kidding? We were playing with army soldiers. Look how they used a rubber band and a LEGO brick to nail this squirrel.
That's right, the soldiers are battling squirrels! We're using the green army men because it's somewhat of a continuation of our "Toy Box" series, with a focus on those soldiers. Here's Bill, one of the characters I lend my voice to:
I had all these different mold characters as a kid, and I think we all did. There are about nine or ten consistent soldiers, and we took about eight of them to make them characters in our ongoing series. And yes, they're all battling... squirrels!
It's a great ongoing series of videos, and it's been fun to film and lend voices to later. Another thing we were doing outside today was having class. Camille and I were teaching the students about the creative arts in church services, and we just decided to go outside and sit by the fountains. It was so nice outside today, just perfect!
In fact, we've been just loving our time in the mornings out on the front porch. Kitty joins us there, hanging out for a short time in the quiet. I'm doing my Bible study, but then I also read other things on the porch, such as the latest short story from a collection of short stories by Terry Pratchett. Today's short story featured an airship and pirates and eagles and... well, it was fun. This whole series of short stories is fun. Also fun are the RL Stine short stories I read each day. These have been so great, some of my favorite things to read from the author so far. I'm hoping to read a few to Maddie as we get closer to the end of the month. But yeah, we'll sit there in the cooler temperatures on the porch and enjoy some of that seasonal coffee. Sometimes it has sweet potato flavor, other times pumpkin spice or dark chocolate. I like them all.
