Maddie took these pictures on the way home from taekwondo tonight, as the skies were immense, filled with mighty clouds, with darkness lurking to the west illuminated by flashes of lightning, while rays of colorful sunset painted the thunderheads towering overhead.
Taekwondo was fun, a few classes back to back, leadership class followed by black belt. It was a great deal of work for the students tonight, quite a bit of exercise thrown in to keep everyone fit. We can get worn out just watching from the observation area! Maddie is doing well throughout though.
Today was her second day of school, and it was a day of much review, and introductions still. One exercise featured the students in one class sharing with the others a nightmare that each one vividly remembers. Maddie's nightmare? I believe it amounted to a death at the school, something fairly terrifying.
Speaking of terrifying, we were at the Dark Island tonight, a place along the path of the "Voyage of the Dawn Treader." We concluded the movies - the ones made so far - with our viewing of this last of the Narnia movies. Sadly, no more were made featuring cast members of the first three, which is a shame. From what I understand, someone may be in the process of making all seven at once so as to have a complete telling of the stories. We'll certainly want to see that.
It was Taco Friday today, which was basically a way to correct the fact that we did not get to have our Taco Tuesday. Maddie slopped on lots of hot sauce as always, just as she does with her salads and chicken nuggets and baked potatoes. Along with hot taquitos on the side. We'll see more of those taquitos in a bit though, as they feature prominently in a skit upcoming... at a wedding reception.
The four members of the Mysterious Benedict Society are back together again, although Kate has attempted to escape the prison the four of them find themselves trapped in. The villains are truly villainous in this latest story, and we can't wait to see their comeuppance. Though their plans were foiled in the last book, they came back with a fury in this latest book, "The Prisoner's Dilemma." We'll have to see how they get out of this scrape as we read on, but it's been good reading.
We prayed afterwards, and tonight we went to sleep knowing we don't have to get up early tomorrow. It'll be a quiet day Saturday, followed by a not-so-quiet Sunday, one filled with a lot of activity!
