Tonight we were playing this new game I just picked up, another board game based on "The Haunted Mansion" in Disney. This was an absolute blast. Mom was with us, playing against Maddie and I, all three of us collecting familiar ghosts from the mansion while trying to not pick up too many "haunts" which ultimately got me in the end. Maddie nailed me with just one turn left, and I wound up with too many of those, and that sunk my chances of winning. Maddie wound up with the big first victory, but it won't be the last time we play - the game was pretty fun! It may look complicated at the onset, but the gameplay was ultimately pretty simple, and the artwork and feel of the whole thing was just a wonderful bit of old-school Disney. You know as September and October comes around, we'll be playing some more!
So today was KidPak, and this morning we started our "Path of the Warrior" series, which should be about seven weeks long. The skit was one we reformatted from Summer Xtreme, but it was a big hit, and it featured Maddie using her bo staff at the beginning. She was nervous about it, but she practiced a bit beforehand, and ultimately she did a fantastic job with the staff. The kids were impressed, and then after that, Maddie actually had lines to deliver in the skit as well. It was a fun one, something that introduced everyone to the characters and of course showed off our new set, the first new set we've had since January. Yeah, it's been that long. Anyway, we've got an Asian set right now, and it looks fantastic. We have the lanterns hanging in the lobby and the videos are great, including an animated movie Josh has made that resembles an adventure of Samurai Jack, along with other older KidPak videos, such as a few where we dub over old Kung Fu movies. We did our skit a few times this morning, and had our famous ninja races too - it was a really full morning, one ending with a special message about Joshua and courage.
We got home for lunch, and I was back on the treadmill again, taking a walk through - virtually - Petrified Forest. I love revisiting all these places via POV videos. This trail meandered through the Petrified Forest, and although I didn't see as many petrified logs, it was a great trek through the burning sands! I use the words "burning sands," because I was listening to Marty Robbins music as I marched along.
Tonight we were watching a few things, but we got to bed early, and we're almost done with "The Prisoner's Dilemma." Mr. Curtain has not gotten away this time, nor did his Ten Men. After three books, everything has finally caught up with him. We've still got another chapter I think to wrap up story points, or perhaps we'll find out where things are heading next. But it's been a good story, one we've all been anxious to get to each night. After prayers, it was time for bed of course, and Maddie's reminder that I smell terrible. Goodnight, stink-face!
