Divergent Detergent

We brought out cookies into KidPak this morning, and this one seems to be a little grumpy!  We had a great morning nevertheless, one that saw Madison and her friend Skylar on stage once again.  Madison had about seven lines this morning, but I never really doubted that she could deliver, and sure enough, she handled all the dialogue just fine.  She and all the others did a fantastic job with the skit, and it turned out to be a super fun morning.  But more importantly , Nana came to visit and see Madison on stage.  Nana was there for the first service, watching the skit and then listening to Pastor Lance.  Then she and Mom went up to to see Dr. Rutland speak in the main service as well.  So it was a full morning for the two of them.

We got home, and went to the library right after that.  Madison had finished her book, "Divergent," and so we went over to check out the movie "Insurgent."  I was telling Madison about the new sequel that this author was working on, about a dystopian world where there aren't any cleaning products for people's clothes. 

It's called "Detergent."  One choice can transform you.  Another choice can transform your clothing.  In a world without proper cleaning products, attractive teenagers face difficult choices against a laundry cartel that wants complete control and world domination.  

Okay, anyway, after the library, we went over to a drive-thru trunk-or-treat even at a church about five minutes from here.  It was odd, given this world we're in, and it was a little sad in some ways.  I'll explain:  we didn't get out of the car.  While that was unique, it was also a little sad.  A lot of people put a lot of work into their various cars, with costumes, music and decorations.  We just drove by the cars, one by one, and appreciating the hard work.  After that, we made one final stop and got a big bag of candy for Madison.  And that was it.  I think we were there less than ten minutes?  Regardless, it was something quick and fun to do.  Nana came along, and we saw a stilt-walker, a little mermaid, and a team of doctors that I'm fairly sure weren't trained professionals!

We got home after that, and Madison did some piano practice, leaning towards "Victor's Solo" with her recital piece coming up, but we'll see.  We all sat down tonight to watch a Christmas movie, because November 1st is the start of Christmas season now.  Because we need it.  We saw "Christmas of Many Colors," and it was very nice sitting together to watch a Christmas movie.  Tomorrow, the tree might go up, just because!

It was a nice day today, and a full one again.  We're keeping busy the best we can, looking into things to do in the future.  A lot has been cancelled because compliance will be rewarded.  But there are things we've made reservations for, and despite the things we can't do, there will be other new things we'll see and do. 

We said our prayers tonight, and read again.  Mara Jade's adventures aren't exactly a Christmas story, but we'll get to those soon enough!
