Holy Cow! Madison was feeding the cows this morning, and feeding the geese, and feeding the goats too! It was time for her first field trip, a trip to the farm! We went to Kinsey Farms, which is seriously about five miles from our house - or less! Mommy and Daddy met the bus right there, and got a chance to hang out with Madison at the farm. We first listened to a story about pumpkins, and then it was time to go down and feed some of the farm animals. Madison is giggling because the cows get your hands all wet and slimy! Of course, we had some soap nearby to take care of that!
The property on the farm is taken care of, and really scenic. We had a great time learning about farming, learning about plants and animals. We even got to go on a hay ride together!
We rode down the hill past trees and crops, and found ourselves at a freshwater pond. Madison and all the other children got fish food to throw into the water, where there were plenty of catfish, brim, and geese!
One of the neat things Madison's class got to do was plant a tree!
Everyone got to shovel a bit of dirt, and soon there was a big enough hole to plant a small tree in. We fed it fertilizer, and added water, and covered the tree with dirt. The kids did all the work, and didn't even get paid for it! Seriously, it was neat to learn a bit as they worked together on a memory: they learned about the things that trees do, and their importance in the cycle.
Soon after, it was time to go back to school. But before that, we had a picnic together on the grounds. We shared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - it was a wonderful morning, which is just what Daddy needed!
Later on, it was time for work. Wednesday is a big church night, of course - and Mommy was very helpful by getting some of the costumes ready for Daddy's big night. We had a skit that featured the Ghostbusters!
It went really well - so much so that Daddy will have these guys making an appearance down the hall in KidPak Junior this Sunday morning. Madison will get to meet the Ghostbusters!
